ICT INTEGRATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING CURRICULUM. ICT
GOAL
There will be a transformation
in the teaching and learning from the text –book- heavily reliant chalk and
talk boring teacher to a digitally rich facilitator of access to the ever expanding
universe of knowledge in Voi Constituency.
PREAMBLE
The absence of a regulatory infrastructure, and indeed a
coherent national policy of the matter, ICT training has become a free-for-all
in which the trainee in the loser.
Most of the foreign curricular are proprietary and extremely
expensive, in the first instance marginalizing other knowledge and information
and in the second instance marginalizing potential trainees who have only
limited means.
Many of the institutions that purport to offer ICT training
lack both equipment and appropriate expertise, further compounding the problem
of unsatisfactory curriculum. For most of them, the primary raison d’être is to
make money – not provide quality training. From simple user proficiency to
professional competency as would be required for an ICT trainer in a school
environment.
